Directory of Expert Witnesses The Law Society of Scotland Directory of Expert Witnesses is a site we have developed for Sweet & Maxwell, specialist law publishers and part of the Thomson Group.  The site provides details on accredited expert witnesses who provide services in Scotland.  The publishers compile the information onto and in-house database that is initially used to produce a printed directory.  When all the proofs of the directory have been checked and passed for publication, an updated database is sent to us and loaded into the database engine that drives the site.  In the site, search pages enable experts to be identified based on a wide range of criteria.  These search pages have their own built-in intelligence and are designed to help the user avoid the situation whereby they build a list of search criteria that return no hits from the database.  When changes in an expert's details are notified to the publishers, all that is required is to update that expert's entry in the database and all effected pages on the site are automatically updated.
